Governing Body

The Governing Body consists of members elected from the Local Authority, the school staff, the parents and the community.

Its role is to help the school provide the best possible education for the pupils.

The three main functions of this role are to provide a strategic view, to provide the staff with support and advice by acting as a 'critical friend', to take responsibility for ensuring good quality education and helping the Headteacher and staff in establishing high standards of achievement and promoting effective teaching and learning.

The Governing Body meet regularly. Some responsibilities are delegated to committees so a specific focus can be given to key issues. As well as attending meetings, Governors also visit the school to observe children at work and play, have meetings with key staff and generally become familiar with all aspects of the school environment.

The roles agreed at the FGB meeting in Sept 2023 are as follows:

Chair - Mark Claydon
Safeguarding/Well-being - Mark Claydon
Health & Safety - Dan Garrett
Pupil Premium / SEN - Darren Ede

Training and Development - Gen Bisset

Curriculum - Lucy Helliwell

We have this year welcomed a number of new governors to the governing body, including Cherry Summers, Lucy Helliwell, Kate Murtagh, Julie Shipman.

If you are interested in becoming a school governor, please contact the school office.
